Mohini pick-up weir has been converted into an impounding reservoir by providing 30 feet high radial gates over the crest of existing weir. To counteract the additional tensile stresses, developing due to increase in height of structure, it became imperative to install pre-stressed anchors from top of weir to ensure stability of structure.
The work comprises of installation of 122 Nos. of 75 Tons anchors, which pass through body of dam and are anchored in foundation rock at sufficient depth. The maximum length of anchors was 36 meter including 7 meter in rock, Each Tendon comprises of 7 numbers of 12.7 mm nominal diameter P.C. strand wire, Class-II. These anchors, designed for as long a life as that of the dam, have been minutely protected against corrosion.
